Navigating the challenging journey of multiple forms of cancer, Annelise's diagnosis was first in January 2022; she is 13 years-old now. The cancer has affected her in ways to the point where doctors were unsure if she could ever practice basic bodily functions again; she has proved more resilient! Annelise, and her parents, have received nothing but professional and compassionate care from the hospital physicians and doctors, who are doing everything possible to support Annelise's fight against this merciless disease. She is a warrior!

Priscilla is a mother whose beautiful daughter Annelise is battling the worst kind of cancer. It has been a long and hard fight, but neither her, nor Annelise are giving up this fight until she becomes cancer-free. Here is the letter received by the ACCBF on behalf of this family from Priscilla.

“Our daughter Annelise was a completely normal, happy, fun loving kid when she noticed some hand cramping. We underwent an MRI that revealed a tumor on her thalamus. She underwent a biopsy that left her in a coma for 4 months. She suffered a massive hemorrhage and brain bleed, that left her with multiple strokes and infarcts. We weren't sure she was ever going to open her eyes again.”

“She eventually did open her eyes and slowly but surely started her long hard road to recovery. She was in the ICU for 7 months during which time we were forced out of our house and ended up living in the Ronald McDonald Charity house at the hospital. Her father had to leave every night to move all of our belongings into a storage unit in order to be at her bedside during the day.”

“Annelise has come so far and always has a positive attitude and knows she was given this chance to make a difference in the world. She was unable to move her head, much less walk. She was unable to talk, hear, or eat. But she never gave up and now she walks using a walker, feeds herself (though she still uses a G-tube for liquids) and sings and dances and does everything they all told us she wouldn't ever do again.”

“Unfortunately she still needs 24/7 care and both of her parents are unable to work. We struggle everyday to put groceries on the table and pay rent. Before all this happened we were saving up for a down payment on a house and now have mountains of debt and are behind on all of our bills. She was eventually diagnosed with a Pilocytic Astrocytoma and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital which is over an hours drive from our house. We are constantly struggling with the price of gas getting to and from her appointments. We are looking for help in fighting this battle because no child should have to fight against cancer alone. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for all the help you give to families struggling against this disease.”

Priscilla and Annelise and their family has a story to tell of unmatched resilience, courage, and fight and they will not stop until Annelise is cancer-free; what a remarkable testimony and story of strength. The ACCBF was able to come to this family’s side in their time of need. Because of your generosity, this beautiful family was able to reach out to the ACCBF and we were able to provide them hope, care, and love for their fight.

Annelise is a warrior fighting harder than many people will ever have to in their life, and she is doing it with a smile on her face. Her parents are also doing all in their power to make sure that she can have the life she deserves. The ACCBF has been able to join Annelise in this fight and will continue to fight for families like Annelise’s until no child has to experience this fight.

Let's Pray for Annelise

Dear Lord,

As we gather in prayer, we lift up Annelise, a brave young soul, who is facing the formidable challenge of cancer at such a tender age. We come before you with heavy hearts, seeking your divine grace, comfort, and healing touch for her.

In moments like these, we are reminded of your boundless love and mercy. Your word teaches us that you are a God who cares deeply for each of your children, and Annelise is no exception. You know every strand of her hair, every thought in her heart, and every tear she has shed.

Lord, we pray that you surround Annelise with your peace that surpasses all understanding. Let your presence be a constant source of comfort to her, assuring her that she is never alone in this battle. Give her the strength and courage she needs to face the challenges that lie ahead, for with you, nothing is impossible.

We ask for your healing hand to touch Annelise's body. You are the Great Physician, the one who can bring about miracles and restore health. We pray that you would guide the medical professionals treating her, granting them wisdom and insight into the best course of treatment.

As we pray for physical healing, we also pray for emotional and spiritual strength for Annelise. In the face of pain and uncertainty, help her to find hope and inspiration in your promises. Let her faith in you be a beacon of light in the darkest of times.

Lord, we also pray for Annelise's family, who are walking this difficult journey alongside her. Grant them patience, strength, and unwavering faith. Surround them with a community of support and love, so they may be encouraged in their role as caregivers.

In this moment of prayer, we are reminded of your teachings, where you said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." We trust that you hold Annelise close to your heart and that your love for her knows no bounds.

Finally, Lord, may this prayer serve as a reminder to all of us to cherish the gift of life and to be grateful for each day we are given. May it inspire us to reach out to those in need, to be a source of encouragement and support to others facing trials, and to never lose sight of the hope that is found in you.

In your holy and compassionate name, we pray.

Amen.
